Jungian Analyst David Schoen on Addiction

Society is pleased to host David Schoen on Friday Feb 4th, an evening
event on Addictions, AA and Jungian Psychology and on Saturday 5th a
full day in-depth workshop.
Friday evening February 4th
Jungian
Analyst David Schoen will present an overview of the psychological
dynamics of addiction, treatment and recovery, as seen through the dual
lenses of the 12 steps of Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) and Jungian
Psychology. He will draw from the famous correspondence between AA
cofounder Bill W., and Carl Jung, which shows how Jung's psychology forms a cornerstone of AA and recovery. (Read here the correspondence between A.A. founder Bill W. and Carl Jung.)
Schoen
will describe the development and nature of a typical addiction, the
archetypal shadow in the addiction process, and why the principles of AA
are such an effective treatment approach in addressing addiction.

An Intensive Workshop with Jungian Analyst David Schoen
Come inside to a place of enlightenment with Jungian Analyst David Schoen. This workshop will provide you with a deeper understanding of the psychodynamics of addiction, treatment and recovery, including the creation of the addiction-shadow complex. He will address what is involved in the healing process from the perspective of AA's 12 step program, and amplify the concept of archetypal evil and shadow in fairytales and religions. Finally, Schoen will touch on how the dreams of alcoholics and other addicted individuals can be significant in diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
