An afternoon of reflections on bereavement and learning how to cope with grief, local author Dr. Barbara Wheeler discusses and signs copies of her book, When a Spouse Dies.

It can seem like the world has ended when your spouse dies. Dr. Barbara Wheeler felt that when she lost her husband. You don't have to experience grief to know how to support the bereaved---but it helps. A psychotherapist and social work professor, Barbara offers a unique four-dimensional perspective of expertise that she uses to help others through times of grief---therapist, educator, personal experience, and interviews with others. Learn how to recover from and grow through loss, as Dr. Wheeler helps you through the journey to find comfort and relief.

Dr. Wheeler achieved the level of Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and was honored with "Social Worker of the Year" and "Administrator of the Year" awards. In her academic career at Brigham Young University, she served as Director of the School of Social Work and later was given the "Honored Educator Alumni Award." Since retirement, she has served on several community boards and contributed numerous hours of service to others in the mental health field. She has "donated" equal time to tennis and hanging out with her children and grandchildren.
