Last year, suspense writer Jenny Milchman traveled from coast to coast with her husband
and two small children touring the country with her first book, the thriller Cover of Snow. Roughly 35,000 miles, 125 hotel rooms and more than 400 bookshops, libraries, book clubs and schools later, she’s ready to hit the road all over again with her upcoming release, Ruin Falls. Milchman was inspired to write “Ruin Falls” after driving cross-country three times with her family to visit bookstores.
The story follows a mom, dad and their two kids on a family vacation as they leave behind their home in a secluded part of the Adirondack Mountains for the children’s grandparent’s farm in western New York. The mother, Liz Daniels, feels on edge, but can’t quite pinpoint the source of her anxiety. The drive to the farm is long and exhausting, so the family decides to stop at a hotel to get some rest. But when Liz checks in on her children the next morning, all her fears become reality–the children have disappeared without a trace. And though Liz quickly realizes what has happened to them, that is only the beginning of her nightmare, and her quest. Now she must get them back.
Jenny Milchman is the recipient of the Mary Higgins Clark award for 2104 for her first novel "Cover of Snow".
