Free lecture on November 4 - Trauma: The Soul’s Imprisonment and Expansion
LOCATION: Union Building, Saltair room (University of Utah campus).
For the first time we have an officially trained Jungian Analyst present at the Jung Society of Utah.
Guil Dudley is a respected Jungian analyst, poet and photographer and visits us from New Mexico. He will address the topic of trauma; and it's wounds and blessings.
Trauma is a profound topic in our society today. In this lecture we will view trauma from two different perspectives. First, we will assume that we all have suffered the soul's incarceration as a result of trauma, whether in childhood or later in life. Second, we will focus on that which we seldom experience: trauma as a threshold for the soul's expansion.
In the history of religions, numerous rituals demonstrate how trauma can become an occasion for psychological awareness. Examples include: Christianity's crucifixion to resurrection; Buddhism's ego to enlightenment; Islam's submission to ecstasy. In the course of healing trauma, we find in these religious archetypes not only a release from the soul's imprisonment, but also its ascension into the wider realms of consciousness.
Guil Dudley is a respected Jungian analyst trained in Los Angeles and is a member of the C.G. Jung Institute of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has a doctorate in the history of religions, three Master's degrees, and is the author of two books and a completed manuscript for a third. Mr. Dudley is also a poet and photographer. He will remain in SLC after this event for private sessions. To schedule, contact him by email (gdudley3@q.com) or by phone (505-286-8919).
