Kimberly is a wanderer, to put it mildly,
and yes, okay, sometimes a baffled one, but moments of enlightenment
have often landed on her head in bookstores, so she is elated to be back
in one. She occasionally feels weepy when she's shelving. That's how
good it is. And the smell is always, ALWAYS the best part. The remake
of "Sabrina" from 1995 was nothing special, but at some point, the title
character is talking to her father, who has been a chauffeur for the
Larrabies for many years. She tells him there are so many things she
loves about him, but her favorite is probably the fact that he became a
chauffeur in order to have more time to read, and Kimberly
occasionally obsesses about this amazing career possibility. She has
always wondered if somebody, somewhere, has actually done this. She
desperately hopes so, because she may eventually move in this direction
herself, although her attention to the road can be spotty, and hats are
not her best look. She'll have to figure it out at some point, though,
because it sounds like the perfect job. Next to working at The King's
English, she means. And ultimately, why bother with anything else if
there isn't a nose-high stack of juicy, juicy books next to one's bed?
Or piled in the front seat of the limo? Life just starts to seem absurd
without that teetery stack.
