I have recently experienced renewal since retiring from teaching young children after 34 years, though I loved it and cherish the families I met over the years. I now, however, have found more time to read, travel, learn, and just do what I’d like to do. Working at TKE provides a new challenge to become familiar with current books, which I’m eager to do, and to learn the cash drawer closing procedures, which I’m not so hot about. I have a son, Joey, who is a bibliophile too, and spends a good share of his time ordering obscure books that no one has ever heard of from TKE. I graduated from “the U” in biological science. After Joey had some learning difficulties, I returned to acquire a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I also got a Special Education certificate and was later endorsed to be a reading specialist. I was pleased to be able to help children who were struggling with reading during the latter part of my teaching career. Working at TKE allows me to become familiar with the latest outstanding books and share my favorites with both customers and my friends and family.

A tragic, but also humorous, story of the German occupation of the
island of Guernsey during World War II. It explores the dark side of
human nature contrasted with the bright optimism that can exist even in
such conditions. The islanders and visitors from the mainland of
England form a book club to conceal their meetings from the Germans.
They consequently learn to love and appreciate the books they read. I
enjoyed every minute of this read.
