Monday, June 25, 7 p.m.

In 2008, 11 climbers lost their lives on K2. Join author Amanda Padoan as she talks about the book, Buried in the Sky, the harrowing experience, and shares the tales of the survivors. She will also tell the oft-neglected story of the Sherpa who climb K2, carrying gear for climbers, risking life and limb every day.

Padoan will be joined by two heroes of this climb, Dr. Eric Meyer and 12-time Everest summiter Chhiring Dorje, who saved the life of another climber on K2's treacherous Bottleneck.

Padoan is a mountaineer and alpine historian. She studied literature at Harvard University and law at Pepperdine School of Law. Amanda writes for Explorersweb and is a contributor to Rock and Ice and Alpinist. She is a Yaddo Fellow.
