Pam Houston will join us to read from and sign her new memoir, Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country.
For her entire career, Pam has traveled any & everywhere she can to teach others how to write. She always comes back to her ranch in Creede, Colorado at 9,000 feet up in the Colorado Rockies, a place of deep snows and summer wildfires, where she tries to be a responsible caretaker for two horses, several sheep, a pair of incredibly childish donkeys, her legendary wolfhounds. Weaving through the book are sections called "Ranch Almanac," illustrated with Pam's own black and white photos. The Almanac follows the rhythms of outdoor work from stacking hay, to carving paths through waist high snow to the barn, to birthing lambs and watching the annual migrations of the bluebirds. All of this writing has a sense of urgency in the face of the ongoing human assault on our environment.
Places in the signing line are reserved for those who purchase a copy Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country from The King's English.
