Vivaldi by Candlelight: Ciao, London! | Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy

This is a ticketed event and will take place at First Presbyterian Church which is located at 12 C St, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103.

Join composer and author Gerald Elias as he directs this year's Vivaldi by Candelight.

At the turn of the 18th century, London was swept by a craze for anything Italian, especially music. Italian composers like Francesco Geminiani and Giovanni Bononcini were wildly successful in the UK for much of their careers. Some English composers, like Charles Avison, fawned over and imitated the style of his friend Geminiani and other Italian idols. However, other composers, like William Boyce, sought to preserve a traditional "English" sound.

So whether your tastes lean toward linguini con vongole or steak and kidney pie, the result is a fascinating and vibrant outpouring of virtuosity that is sure to please and delight at this year's Vivaldi by Candlelight gala.

Vivaldi by Candlelight is a signature fundraising gala of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy and directly supports our mission and programs - funds raised through this year's Vivaldi by Candlelight concert will benefit Young Diplomats of Utah  - a program that engages youth ages 14-20 empowering them to grow as caring, productive citizens, learning essential leadership skills, and having fun by engaging in our globally connected world through volunteerism and service projects.
